Winter warmer at Cafe Marzano

Hot chocolate at Cafe Marzano

Fairly shortly after starting this blog I thought that I would write about Cafe Marzano in The Forum in Norwich, but for some reason, it just dropped out of my head.

That was until I met up with Ms Framboise recently. I’m not really a fan of the Starbucks and Pret’s of this world and don’t think you can get a decent cup of anything in there. That’s why we chose to meet at an independent coffee bar.

And seeing as the temperature outside had started to drop, it only seemed right to head to Marzano and order a nice, warming cup of hot chocolate. And when I was offered marshmallows and cream, I couldn’t really say no. It would be rude!

When you order a hot chocolate with marshmallows at most outlets, you’ll get a couple of tiny ones on the top, but not at Marzano. Oh no, you get a great big handful of them, on top of the hot chocolate, but under the cream. It’s amazing, because they melt and go all soft – it is the future of fattening hot drinks.

Rest your feet

If hot chocolate isn’t you’re thing, I’ve also had a really good a chai latte in there and spicey mulled wine (which apparently is back on if you’re feeling a bit festive). All drinks, I believe, are available to take away too, which is handy if you need something in a rush.

The drinks are good value too; the hot chocolate came in at just £2.05. If you opt for the healthier option and go without the cream and marshmallows, it’s £1.75. Bargainacious.

I like the atmosphere at Marzano too – you can either sit within the cafe, or out in the Forum, where it’s a bit more noisy and buzzing. I like both, but it depends on who I’m meeting. If the weather’s nice, it’s the perfect place to sit outside too – you can watch the world go by while lingering over a cold glass of wine.

But, until the weather heats up, I can recommend heading to Cafe Marzano for a steaming cup of hot chocolate while Christmas shopping.
