Tulips for Tapping

Tulips for Tapping

Just an hour from Norwich, nestled in the Norfolk countryside near Sandringham, Tulips for Tapping offers a breathtaking display of colour and a wonderful day out for a good cause. Hosted by Norfolk Tulips in aid of Tapping House Hospice, this annual event has become a highlight of the spring calendar – and for good reason.

The moment you arrive, you’re greeted by a sea of tulips – more than nine million of them, which are planted each year. Row after row of bold magenta, sunny yellow, rich purple, and deep red tulips stretch out in neat rows. The sight is nothing short of spectacular. It’s a dazzling display that had me reaching for my camera.

But there’s more to Tulips for Tapping than just the stunning views. Information boards with QR codes on them were scattered around the site to give visitors a chance to learn about the different tulip varieties.

Plus, I picked up a bunch of freshly cut tulips from the small gift shop. With so many colours to choose from, it’s hard not to leave with a bunch (or two). The money raised from these sales, like all funds raised at the event, supports Tapping House Hospice, making it a perfect way to brighten your home and support a great cause.

In addition to gifts, there are a couple of food stalls offering a range of tasty treats, which is handy because there’s not much else nearby!

Planning your visit to see the tulips

Due to its popularity, you’ll need to book your visit in advance, choosing a time slot and securing parking. Tickets are priced at £10 each for a 45-minute visit – a small price to pay for the incredible experience. Be prepared for a bit of a crowd, but don’t worry – the site is well-organised, and there’s plenty of space to wander and take in the views.

Whether you’re a keen gardener, a photography enthusiast, or just someone who loves a day out in the fresh air, Tulips for Tapping is well worth a visit. If you’ve never been, I’d recommend adding it to your list. And if you have, well – you’ll know why it’s worth returning year after year!
