Picnic at Norwich Memorial Gardens

With all of last week’s nice weather, I thought it’d be nice to feature something you can do outdoors for a change!

Last week the Norwich Memorial Gardens and War Memorial opened for the first time since 2004, having undergone a £2.6 million refurbishment.

Located just in front of City Hall in the centre of the Norwich, it has a wonderful atmosphere, especially when the sun is shining. It has been completely transformed, with a beautiful sculpture, grass and benches, a complete contrast to the previous incarnation.

With all of the cafes and restaurants around, it’s a great place to enjoy a sandwich and have a mini picnic too. I shall certainly be spending my lunchtimes there, perched on a bench!

Obviously, because it is a memorial gardens, it is also the ideal place to contemplate and think, which is something that everyone should do from time to time.

Hi, I'm Lucy. I've lived in Norfolk since 2001 and in that time I've grown to love this fine county. From the city of Norwich, to the countryside villages and sweeping coastline, there's so much to explore and hope to share my experiences with you here.
