Having watched many episodes of Mad Men recently, I had a bit of a hankering for vodka martinis this weekend.
As such, I gathered some good friends and headed into Norwich over the Bank Holiday weekend.
We decided to try The Birdcage on Pottergate because I have heard many good things.
On Saturday night it was packed with people, but it still had a nice atmosphere which was a surprise. We also managed to get a table and get to the bar, which is always a good start.
My hopes for a good drink were not disappointed at all. It was the best vodka martini that I’ve had in a while – it was well-mixed and dry, the way I like it. It also came with an olive (some places don’t do that any more, which is a crime), which slightly gave the drink a salty edge.
The atmosphere in The Birdcage is very comfortable, with eclectic decor and low lighting. It even has a resident cat, which managed to distract me for about an hour.
Give The Birdcage a go if you want to try something a bit different.
