After struggling to book a table for my Dad’s 50th birthday meal last weekend, we finally managed to get a booking for six people at the Bird in Hand on Saturday night.
I had heard lots of lovely things about the restaurant from friends…and I wasn’t disappointed.
We went in through the bar, which is a proper country pub, before being seated at our table overlooking the Norfolk countryside. It’s a lovely setting, which feels homely and welcoming.
The menu is quite daunting though because there’s so much on it, but when my food was brought out I was impressed. I had lemon sole for my main and it was cooked perfectly – the fish was moist and tasty, but fell off the bones easily. Absolutely delicious. And then the chocolate brownie dessert (which I confess wasn’t strictly necessary, but I felt that I should) was a perfect way to round off the meal.
Service was also excellent, leaving enough time to choose our food, between courses and before bringing the bill. The prices were also very reasonable and the portion sizes were perfect. I thoroughly recommend giving it a go.
