Quite honestly, I would ‘do lunch’ every day if I could afford to; Norwich has so many delightful coffee bars and eateries, that I’d never get bored. Because there are so places to try, I only discovered Clark & Ravenscroft about a month ago after pootling round the shops.
In such a state of exhaustion, the smells emanating from the deli-cum-cafe seemed to waft down the street and lure me to St Gregory’s Alley (off Pottegate) and into the jaws of temptation.
Alas, it’s only a small place, but it’s definitely worth trying to get a table if you can, because it has such a nice atmosphere, with lots of people to watch. Actually, if the weather’s nice, you should try to get a table in the courtyard, so can enjoy the sunshine.
Autumnal feast
When I stopped for lunch, I had a delicious, fresh bowl of spiced pumpkin soup with a sumptuous cheese toastie (with your choice of cheese), which was filling and warm. Just what I needed on a cold winter’s day.
Clark & Ravenscroft also sell a range a deli items, from olives to honey and biscuits, which will make great gifts for the foodies in your life. I spent ages looking at all the shelves and trying not to spend a fortune!
