Whitlingham Country Park

Whitlingham Country Park is only a short walk from Norwich but a great escape, especially if you love nature! There are always ducks, geese and swans on the water and banks of the lake - I think the swan is the most majestic.

Norwich Riverside Walk

This was taken along the river walk or, more specifically, Jarrold Bridge. Again, this was another test shot with my wide angle lens, utilising the long flowing structure of the bridge to lead your eyes to the cathedral in the background.

Norwich Cathedral from the River Wensum

Norwich Cathedral from the River Wensum

Also taken along the river walk, this time getting closer to Norwich Cathedral. I love the way I was able to frame the shot using the surroundings such that the spire fit perfectly between the two leaves.

Flower in Plantation Gardens, Norwich

Plantation Gardens

The Plantation Gardens are very well hidden away within the city but are definitely worth a visit. There’s such a great variety of plants in these quaint gardens, but this was my favourite shot because of the untarnished petals as well as the great contrast between the flower and background.

Norwich Cathedral

Norwich Cathedral, arguably the grandest attraction in the city, was always going to be included. This was one of the first locations I choose to test out my new wide angle lens and you can see why! There’s so many intricate details and so much history to see.

Leaves in a Norwich Nature Reserve

Nature Reserve

There are so many natural spaces in Norwich that I can’t actually remember where this was taken. I’m fairly sure it was taken during autumn, judging by the hints of colour in the background. I really like the shape of the leaves as well as the imperfect nature of the branches.

Ferns at Mousehold Heath

Mousehold Heath

It’s so easy to get lost at Mousehold Heath (in a good way!). One of the distinctive features of the area is the vast areas of ferns, captured here with my wide angle lens. This allowed me to fit in as much as possible and really emphasise the extent of its prominence.

Eaton Park

Eaton Park is great for a casual outing if you want a quiet stroll. We were incredibly lucky to stumble upon this heron, which had decided to visit for a spot of fishing. More than that, I was even able to compose a shot that included the pavilion in the background.

Dew in Plantation Gardens

Dew in Plantation Gardens

This is another from the Plantation Gardens after a period of rain showers. I can never resist shooting dew drops on plants. There’s something very satisfying about the reflections. I really like this shot because it came out sharp but also it’s so lively with the full frame of green.

Carrow Road

This was taken during a Norwich City FC friendly match, held as part of the promotion celebrations. Since I was there for the friendly, I was always going to focus on the match but, more than that, I wanted to capture the action and the crowd to create an exciting shot.
