Norwich Pub Tours

If you like your history with a side of beer, Norwich Pub Tours is well worth your time. Led by comedian and guide Rob, this four-hour walking tour takes you through some of the city’s oldest streets and stories – with a pub stop at every turn.

For just £20 (drinks not included), you’ll visit four pubs, hear tales of monks, murders and medieval mayhem, and likely come away with a few new friends too.

Full disclaimer: I was invited on the tour in return for a review.

For the PR launch event, we kicked things off at the Adam & Eve on Bishopgate. Rob led us through Norwich’s rich and riotous history – from the building of the Castle and Cathedral to the drama of Kett’s Rebellion.

We then crossed the river to learn about the tragedy of the Fye Bridge witches, before continuing to the Briton’s Arms to hear about the misadventures of Father Ignatius on Elm Hill.

From there, we wound our way up Bridewell Alley, admiring the fabulous flintwork, before meandering through the city centre to finish at The Murderers – a pub with its own colourful past.

Despite the darker stories, the tour is anything but heavy. Rob keeps it light and entertaining, blending local history with comic asides. It’s a sociable experience too – more like a group conversation than a lecture. By the end, a good few of us stayed on at the bar, chatting about what we’d learned and swapping stories of our own.

It’s a brilliant way to see the city through fresh eyes, whether you’re local or just visiting. Tours can also be tailored for hen dos, stag dos and team-building events – ideal if you’re after something different and memorable. I highly recommend it.
